Lima Peru
Morning

In Latin America for work for 10 days, at the Colombian office at the moment, but fly to Lima Sunday for 3 days for a 2 hour Client meeting, anyone been or know anyone there who could give me an idea of what to do/where to go ? Probably the only time I will ever visit, so want to make the most of the 3 days and all Peru has to offer ! Cheers

Never been but see if you can put a stop to their awful bear trafficking trade.

Also go into the city centre with a begging bowl and play the pan pipes. Payback time.

The only things I know about Peru are Paddington bear and michu pichu and I doubt either are near where you're going.

Barranco and Miraflores for bars/ nightlife. Plaza Mayor is beautiful and there you can visit probably south America's finest cathedral. Museo nacional de Peru in Puerto Libre is pretty impressive as is the museum of gold.

It's a big dirty city with thousands of places to eat and drink but not much else. If you're alone avoid wandering off, a block or two out of the main areas can be a bit dodgy, even in the day!

Re: LIMA PERU
Lima is a great town. Visit the franciscan monastery in the old town and do the tour of the crypt. In fact just do a wander of the old town - its the best preserved one ive ever seen. Then theres the modern side of town leading upto the malecon where you can look aver the pacific while people parasail over the cliffs. And then go down pizza alley for a beer, a pizza and whatever else takes your fancy.

Whatever you do, eat as well and as often as you can. Peru has two distinct cuisines; the lowland seafood cerviche and the highland red meat based stews. Both are fucking superb. Massively underrated food place, Peru.

Don't go there for food you can get on any English high street. Go there and eat guinea pig.

Turan 12:57 Fri Nov 28
Re: LIMA PERU
guinea pig is not really traditional peruvian food. more for the tourists

cholo 1:47 Fri Nov 28

Turan

Erm, it is, traditional food, but in the andes rather than the coast.

Turan 2:45 Fri Nov 28
Re: LIMA PERU
It isn't. Maybe once off in a blue moon for middle class families

cholo 2:52 Fri Nov 28
Re: LIMA PERU
Don't be daft Turan. Guinea pig in poor rural areas of the andes is a staple and is sold in eateries throughout the region on a daily basis.

I've eaten it in lima too it isn't difficult to find.
